A Craft Lover’s Evening in Anguk — SeMoCA, Bukchon and a Late-Night Seoul Walk
LIVING INDEX · SEOUL / NEIGHBORHOOD GUIDE
Anguk is one of the easiest places in Seoul to turn a museum visit into an evening neighborhood walk. Through Nov. 30, the Seoul Museum of Craft Art is extending selected facilities to 9 PM five days a week, making Korean craft unusually accessible after the daytime crowds thin out.

What to see at SeMoCA now
The 2nd Seoul YURiZi Craft Prize exhibition runs through Oct. 11 and brings together contemporary work across glass and other craft media. Upstairs, Equinox: Autumn and Spring traces roughly four decades of textile designer Chang Eung-bok’s practice and her use of Korean patterns in everyday design.
Do not assume every gallery stays open late
The extended-hours program applies to selected spaces, while other exhibition buildings and education facilities can close at 6 PM. If a specific show is the reason for your visit, check the museum’s same-day hours before leaving. The museum shop and craft library also have their own evening schedules.

Pair it with Bukchon — but treat it as a neighborhood, not a set
From SeMoCA, Bukchon begins within a short walk. Go before dark if the hanok streets are important to you, then return toward Anguk or Insadong for dinner. Bukchon is a residential district, so quieter main routes are a better choice after sunset than wandering deep into residential alleys.
Traveler notes
Anguk Station is the simplest subway access. Museum admission is free and international cards are generally useful in the surrounding commercial streets. English museum information is available, but individual programs may require Korean-language booking. For a compact design day, pair SeMoCA with MMCA Seoul or galleries in Samcheong rather than crossing the city.
WHY IT IS WORTH IT
This is less about checking off a famous attraction and more about seeing how craft, architecture and an old Seoul neighborhood overlap. The late hours make Anguk one of the city’s strongest after-work design routes right now.
