DDP’s Entertech + GES Seoul Starts Sept. 17 — Free K-Pop, AI, XR and Gaming Experiences This Weekend

LIVING INDEX · SEOUL / DDP / K-CULTURE

One of Seoul’s biggest tech-meets-culture events starts at DDP on September 17. Entertech Seoul + GES 2026 brings K-pop, AI, XR, gaming and esports into Dongdaemun for four days, with most exhibitions and hands-on experiences open for walk-in participation.

For travelers, the useful part is that this is not a trade show you need industry credentials to enter. You can try AI-generated music and imagery, AR/XR experiences and gaming activations, while selected stage programmes and forums require advance registration.

What you can actually experience

Seoul’s official programme includes AI systems that generate music and images from visitor input, AR glasses that turn 2D content into 3D experiences, immersive K-pop VR and a large gaming/esports programme.

There is also a mobility angle: Hyundai’s N Virtual Cup links Gran Turismo 7 sim racing with a real racing-car display. Around DDP, the public programme expands into busking, random-play dance and game-arcade activities.

September 18 is the headline day

The combined opening ceremony is scheduled for September 18. AI composer EvoM will create music in real time from audience-selected keywords, followed by a performance from K-pop group FIFTY FIFTY. Seating for the ceremony is limited to registered visitors, so check the official Entertech site before building your trip around the performance.

Traveler notes

Booking — most exhibition and experience zones are walk-in; selected talks and the opening ceremony use advance registration.

Getting there — Dongdaemun History & Culture Park Station connects directly to the DDP area via subway Lines 2, 4 and 5.

Language — hands-on and visual experiences are easier to navigate without Korean than conference sessions; detailed talks may be Korean-first.

Payment — admission to the main public experience zones is not presented as a paid-ticket event; bring a physical international card for food, retail or nearby shopping.

Best timing — Sept. 18–20 has the densest public programme. Expect heavier crowds over the weekend.

Why it is worth seeing now

This is useful for visitors because it shows a side of contemporary Korean culture that sits between a concert, exhibition and technology demo. K-pop IP becomes VR, AI becomes a live creative tool, and games expand into physical mobility experiences.

If you are in Seoul this weekend, DDP gives you a concentrated look at how Korea is turning entertainment technology into something people can experience in a real public space — and the window lasts only through September 20.
