Focus/26 Opens Today — 700 Brands, 140+ Showrooms and the AW26 Interiors Launches to Watch

LIVING INDEX · INTERIORS / DESIGN WEEK

London’s autumn interiors season moves into its most concentrated trade moment today. Focus/26 on Design opens September 14 at Design Centre, Chelsea Harbour, bringing more than 700 brands into 140+ showrooms alongside 30+ temporary House Guests and a five-day programme of launches, talks and material presentations.

It lands inside London Design Festival, but Focus is more specific: this is where many furniture, textile, lighting, wallcovering and surface brands reveal their AW26 direction at the same time. For anyone tracking what will move from showrooms into residential and hospitality projects next, the next five days are unusually dense.

What is Focus/26?

Focus/26 runs from September 14–18, 2026 at Design Centre, Chelsea Harbour. The official programme lists opening hours of 9:30 a.m.–5:30 p.m., Monday through Friday, with free general entry and advance registration available.

The scale is the immediate story: the British Institute of Interior Design lists 700+ brands, 140+ showrooms, 145 events and 300 speakers. Design Centre’s own current pages also highlight 30+ pop-up House Guests and more than 100 free showroom events.

The launches worth using as trend signals

A useful way to read Focus is not to attempt all 700 brands, but to watch where materials and product categories are changing. Several confirmed launches already point to a season built around tactility, portable lighting, expressive surfaces and craft-led detail.

Launch / presentationWhat to watch
Vispring × Tom DixonThe ‘Rainbow’ headboard plus new Luxe fabrics — sleep furniture treated as a stronger visual object
Corston lightingRechargeable lighting, expanded Richmond/Cotswold families and patterned shades — light moving away from fixed sockets
Julian Chichester AW26Sculptural furniture and reworked favourites with blackened brass and expressive forms
Alternative FlooringThree new 100% wool collections alongside natural fibres and recycled-PET yarn
Walking On WoodBurl wood as a focal material, emphasizing irregular grain rather than visual uniformity

Three interior directions already visible

1. Texture is doing more work than colour alone. Wool, burl wood, patterned shades, decorative trims and sculptural finishes suggest that the room is being built through surfaces that reward close viewing rather than one dominant palette.

2. Lighting is becoming more mobile. Corston’s September rechargeable-lighting launch is a practical example. Removing the socket constraint changes where light can live: shelves, dining tables, corners and temporary arrangements become easier to illuminate without redesigning electrical plans.

3. Craft is being presented as contemporary infrastructure, not nostalgia. The programme includes marquetry, bespoke wallcoverings, porcelain flowers, embroidery, bronze accessories and hand-made wallpaper. The interesting part is not a return to ‘traditional style’; it is the use of hand process to differentiate increasingly polished interiors.

What is happening on opening day?

Monday’s programme starts immediately with Ralph Lauren Home’s Saddlebrook fall collection presentation from 9:30 a.m. Other opening-day sessions include a Design Discovery Tour, bespoke wallcoverings, lighting across kitchens and bathrooms, Benjamin Moore × Lincrusta on colour and texture, and an Ai Weiwei × Rubelli craftsmanship conversation.

The main-stage programme also moves beyond product. ‘The Art of Gathering in the Age of AI’ runs at 11:30 a.m., followed by an ELLE Decoration-hosted discussion on evolution and reinvention at 2 p.m. and Michael S. Smith with Hatta Byng on the curated home at 4 p.m.

IF YOU HAVE ONE DAY
Start with the showrooms rather than the talks: identify three material categories you actually specify — for example lighting, textiles and flooring.
Use the free Design Discovery Tour to understand the building if it is your first visit.
Reserve one conversation or masterclass rather than filling the day with panels.
Photograph labels and collection names, not only styled rooms; that makes post-show sourcing much easier.

How Focus differs from the wider London Design Festival

London Design Festival is city-wide and intentionally broad, spanning installations, galleries, emerging studios, public projects and multiple design districts. Focus/26 is a more concentrated interiors marketplace: permanent showrooms reveal new-season collections while temporary brands occupy Design Avenue.

That makes it particularly useful for interior designers and specifiers. The value is less about finding one viral installation and more about seeing fabrics beside furniture, hardware beside surfaces, and new collections in the context in which they may actually be specified.

The Living Index take

Focus/26 is worth watching because it compresses a large part of the premium interiors supply chain into one address just as AW26 collections become public. The first signals are not pointing to a single ‘colour of the season.’ They are pointing to something more useful: richer material contrast, portable light, visible craft and surfaces with more irregularity and character.

Those ideas will need to be tested against what actually appears across the showrooms this week. But as the doors open, the strongest direction is already clear: interiors are becoming less interested in perfectly coordinated finishes and more interested in how materials behave together at close range.
