Dates Sept. 19–Oct. 6, 2026 · Hours 6–10 PM · Where Hwaseomun, Janganmun and Jangan Park, Suwon · General viewing is free (some reserved seating and guided tours cost extra)
Starting tomorrow night, UNESCO-listed Suwon Hwaseong Fortress becomes a large-scale outdoor media-art route. The 2026 edition runs for 18 nights, combining projection works on the historic gates with lighting, performances and interactive installations in Jangan Park.
Why go now
The opening ceremony is at 7 PM on Sept. 19. Last year’s edition drew more than 510,000 visitors in 16 days. The main Hwaseomun presentation runs at 7:30, 8:30 and 9:30 PM.
Getting there
Suwon works as a day or evening trip from Seoul. There is no dedicated festival parking and traffic restrictions are planned, so public transport is the better option. Pair the night program with Hwaseong Haenggung and Haengnidan-gil before sunset.
Tickets and visitor tips
General festival viewing is free. Some reserved seats and guided programs are paid. English festival leaflets are available on the official site, and Korea’s 1330 travel hotline provides multilingual visitor assistance.
