Wayne Thiebaud’s First Major Korea Retrospective Opens Today at DDP — 105 Works in Seoul
Dates Sept. 19, 2026–Feb. 21, 2027 · Venue DDP Museum, Exhibition Hall 1 (B2) · Hours 10:00–20:00, last entry 19:00 · Adult admission KRW 23,000
Wayne Thiebaud’s first large-scale retrospective in Korea opens today at Dongdaemun Design Plaza. Presented as Hyundai Card Culture Project 31, The Order of Things brings together 105 paintings and drawings spanning roughly 75 years, from a 1947 self-portrait to work completed in 2021.
Why it is worth seeing now
Thiebaud is instantly recognizable for cakes, ice cream and candy counters, but this Seoul exhibition goes beyond the familiar dessert paintings. It follows how he organized everyday objects, figures and California cityscapes across decades, making it one of the strongest new art openings in Seoul this weekend.
Getting there
DDP is directly connected to Dongdaemun History & Culture Park Station on Lines 2, 4 and 5. The exhibition is in Museum Exhibition Hall 1 on basement level 2. Public transit is the easiest option this weekend because several events are running around DDP at the same time.
Tickets
General adult admission is KRW 23,000. Hyundai Card holders are offered a 20% discount on regular tickets. Check the official booking page before traveling for same-day availability and current entry conditions.
